Kenny Chesney is back and he promises his brief hiatus from touring has only fueled his love for the stage. The multiple award-winning country superstar recently announced his first tour since the 2016 “No Shoes Nation” filled some of the biggest venues in the country. “Trip Around the Sun” kicks off April 21 in Tampa, FL and includes a few special guests that fans will not want to miss.
Dubbed one of country music’s most talented live performers, Chesney will make stops at 18 cities across the country, from Milwaukee to Pittsburgh, wrapping up with August performances at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, and Gilette Stadium, Boston, MA. Major stops include Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, Seattle, WA and Nashville, TN. Country music fans can expect to get their money’s worth when special guests Thomas Rhett, Old Dominion and Brandon Lay take the stage along the way.
Chesney told CBS News that it’s not just the stage he misses – “I miss the energy, the passion, the spirit of “No Shoe Nation.” He’ll release his second live album, “Live From No Shoes Nation,” Oct. 27, which includes guest spots from Taylor Swift, Eric Church, Dave Matthews and the Zac Brown Band. The more than 30 songs recorded over a 10-year period at stadium shows, beach performances and pop-up bar gigs includes some of the star’s biggest hits like “Summertime” and “There Goes My Life,” but fans will enjoy lesser-known tunes such as “Happy on the Hey Now.”
The “Don’t Blink” singer has seen 14 of his albums reach certified Gold status by the Recording Industry Association of America, with 10 of his releases hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It would be an understatement to say the performer’s trophy shelf is impressive – his reign began in 1997, when ACM named him the New Male Vocalist of the year. He has gone on to be named Entertainer of the Year by the CMA four times and CMT awarded him the Male Video of the Year award from 2004 through 2007. Only two other artists have received the Country Music Association’s Pinnacle Award that Chesney added to his catalog in 2016.
